Student Shot, Injured At California U. Of PA
CALIFORNIA, PA (KDKA) – With homecoming just days away, the excitement at California University of Pennsylvania is eminent. But last night, excitement turned to fear, when a 20-year old student was shot at his off-campus apartment.
Police say it happened at 415 Second Street.
The victim, a 20-year old male, was a student at the university. He was taken to Allegheny General hospital with a gun shot wound to the leg. He is expected to make a full recovery.
"It definitely put a damper on everything," says senior Lora Lee Gallagher. "Even though I don't know the kid, you're still worried about him."
The school alerted students about the shooting within minutes.
"First thought I had was that homecoming hasn't even started and there's already been a shooting," says senior Julie Kubica.
According to The Washington Observer, witnesses saw a dark-colored Audi leave the area of the shooting. The Washington Observer also says two unarmed suspects were taken into custody.
