Strong Storms Cause Flooding, Landslide In Washington County
PETERS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Strong storms moved through the area overnight bringing heavy rain that caused some flooding and a landslide. One of the hardest hit areas was Washington County.
All of the rain brought water and mud down a hillside at the intersection of Route 19 and Donaldson's Crossing in Peters Township.
The intersection there sits in a valley.
Crews spent the overnight hours clearing and cleaning the area of the debris that came down in the slide, and scraping mud off of the road.
Officials also had to shut down parts of Route 65 in Leetsdale.
Traffic had to be rerouted around Quaker Valley High School while crews cleaned the area.
It reopened around 1:30 a.m.
