Storms Cause Flooding, Damage Around Area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Thunder, wind, lightning and hail all made their way through our area overnight.
While it wasn't the catastrophic weather event it could have been, this morning's storms certainly did create a lot of difficulty from floods to falling trees.
If you were driving on Route 51, south of Clairton, around 3:30 a.m., you were dealing with torrential downpours.
When the water hit the highway, it had nowhere to go and a flash flood developed at the intersection of Clairton and Lewis Run Roads.
Aside from the rain, wind was also a problem with these storms. On Scenic Court in Jefferson Hills, the wind blew a trampoline into the middle of the street.
The storms also brought down many trees around the area. On Route 837 in Clairton, a lane was restricted by some fallen limbs.
In Glenshaw, a tree branch fell on a car parked in a driveway on Park Circle Drive and broke a window.
"I heard a snap like a tree had fallen or something like that," Estok said. "We park our cars there and last night when I woke up the first time I told myself those cars probably should have been moved down. I [said] nothing is going to happen, so I didn't move them. That's life."
