Storms Leave Damage Trail In Beaver & Lawrence Co.

ELLWOOD CITY (KDKA) – The most recent line of storms has left many people in Beaver and Lawrence Counties dealing with flooding problems.

Parts of the county saw over three inches of rain fall overnight. Some of the most affected areas include, Beaver Falls, Chippewa, Industry and Brighton Township.

In Ellwood City, cars along 5th Street were up to their windows in water. Businesses along the street were also inundated with water.

Engineers will be in the area inspecting bridges that may have been damaged by the flash flooding.

There were other reports of power lines coming down and trees falling into houses in the area.

Water was gone by the time day broke, but what the wind had done was more than apparent.

Matthew Richart was about to disassemble a building and move it to his family's Christain summer camp, which had recently suffered a major fire.

Now, the front of the building is bowed in and its future is in question.

"The whole building has been shifted and could come down at any time," Matthew Richart said.

In Ellport, one man is dealing with half of a large silver maple resting on his home.

"The house is actually bowing where the tree is sitting," Michael Walters said.

A damage estimate is not known, but there are no reported injuries from these storms.
