Storms Cause Damage Across Area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A day of hot temperatures was capped off by severe storms.
There were several reported lighting strikes Friday night.
The Penncraft store in East Millsboro, Fayette County, was destroyed by fire. Lightning is the suspected cause.
The business is at least 70-years-old. The owner says he plans to rebuild.
Meanwhile, gusty winds also caused problems, knocking over trees and power lines across the area.
The high winds created a mess at St. Therese Church in Munhall.
They were all set up, enjoying the final night of their annual festival until the wind moved in.
Tents were blown away and people were drenched.
Also, several roads in Washington County were closed because of downed power lines and trees.
As for power outages, as of 7 p.m. Saturday evening, West Penn Power was still reporting some outages, including more than 6,300 in Washington County, more than 5,800 in Fayette County and about 2,000 in Greene County.
