Steve Wheatcroft On Earning PGA Tour Card
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Steve Wheatcroft, a Trinity graduate on the Web.com Tour, recently won the Albertsons Boise Open to earn a PGA Tour card for next year.
Wheatcroft talked to Mike Dudurich on The Fan Golf Show and said he fought tooth-and-nail over the last two rounds to earn the victory.
"We were just battling back and forth. So there's definitely tons of pressure on every hole, on every swing. I felt like I held up to it pretty well. Then to birdie the first playoff hole and finish the thing off was really nice for me to see. I've never won a tournament that way," Wheatcroft said.
This will be Wheatcroft's fourth appearance on the PGA Tour, and Wheatcroft said that he will go in with no expectations.
"I kind of hit rock bottom this year and really just kind of stopped expecting so much and stopped putting so much pressure on myself," Wheatcroft said. "Now, I'm just going to go out there. I'm going to enjoy it. I'm going to hopefully play some great golf."
