The Steelers pulled off a 24-17 victory over the New York Giants in a game that also saw quarterback Ben Roethlisberger take his first preseason snap.

Roethlisberger started the game under center and remained in the game for 20 plays, completing 6 of 8 passes and throwing one interception.  The Steelers managed to put 3 points on the scoreboard with "Big Ben" at the helm, thanks to a 26-yard field goal by Jeff Reed.

Byron Leftwich showed why he is the front-runner to start in place of the suspended Roethlisberger once the regular season begins.  He threw for 95 yards, completing 3 of 6 passes including a 68-yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace just before the end of the first half.

Dennis Dixon coordinated a pair of touchdown-scoring drives of 78 and 82 yards.  Isaac Redman found the end zone on a 12-yard run and Dwayne Wright powered one in from the 2-yard line.  Dixon finished 7 of 8 for 82 yards.

Charlie Batch did not play.

The game was the Giants' first "home game" in their new stadium, which they share with the New York Jets.  They played "visitor" to the Jets last week.
