Steelers Take On Local Troops In Pros Vs. G.I. Joes
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Steelers have met their match - at least when it comes to video games.
They're testing their skills in a fierce competition via webcam with soldiers overseas and in person.
The showdown? Pros vs. G.I. Joes.
"We might have an advantage having smaller hands a little better with the buttons," Sgt. Ted Saul with the 301st Regional Support Group said. "But I can tell a lot of these guys are really enjoying it as much as we are."
Pros Vs. G.I. Joes arranges video game competitions between soldiers in war zones and professional athletes from their hometowns.
This battle included Guitar Hero and Call of Duty.
Gina Puchany knows how much this means to her boyfriend, Patrick O'Brien, who is serving in Iraq.
"It makes it a lot easier, so thank God for internet and stuff like this," she said. "It really helps them and makes them excited because they are ready to come home but serving and being strong over there."
Her boyfriend also got a personal holiday message from James Farrior via webcam.
"I just told him hello and I wanted to wish him a Merry Christmas and tell him I appreciate everything they do for us," Farrior said.
For the Steelers, there's no question who the true heroes are.
"We look up to them, we appreciate them because when we when we go out on Sundays, it's a lot easier when you don't have anything to worry but beating the opponent," Max Starks said.
