Steelers Suspend RB Mendenhall For 1 Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced that running back Rashard Mendenhall has been suspended for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.

Mendenhall had already been benched for the last two games and now will miss a third.

Baron Batch has been re-activated from the practice squad, but this is a move that explains, in hindsight, why head coach Mike Tomlin was so adamant today that Mendenhall would not get a chance to play this week in Dallas.

The move comes as the Steelers' running game continues to struggle.

Since posting back-to-back to back 100-yard games in late October and early November, the Steelers haven't seen a rusher go over 60 yards in game.

As a team the Steelers are averaging less than 90 rushing yards per game in their last five contests.

That would rank 27th in the league were it carried out over the full season.
