Steelers Sign Punter, Miller Doubtful For Bengals Game
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a new punter when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday afternoon.
According to the Steelers, the team has signed Jeremy Kapinos to replace Daniel Sepulveda, who suffered a torn ACL in his right knee against the Baltimore Ravens.
Kapinos appeared in one game with the Indianapolis Colts this season and averaged 44.5 yards per punt on four attempts.
Prior to this season, he had spent two years with the Green Bay Packers.
Head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media during his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon and said Sepulveda will undergo surgery on Friday.
Tight end Heath Miller suffered a concussion during Sunday's 13-10 win over the Ravens after a hit by Jameel McClain. No flag was thrown on the play, but the NFL fined McClain $40,000.
Tomlin said Miller is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Also injured against the Ravens was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who suffered a broken nose.
Haloti Ngata was fined $15,000 by the NFL for the hit to the head that broke Roethlisberger's nose.
Roethlisberger did not miss any game action and is expected to play Sunday.
There was some good news to come out of the press conference. Aaron Smith's X-rays are looking good.
He's starting to work out, but there is no word on when he could return to the lineup. However, there is optimism that he could return to the Steelers this season.
