Steelers Schedule: Bengals Most Expensive, Buccaneers Least Expensive Home Game
(TiqIQ/CBS) - 2013 didn't start well for the Pittsburgh Steelers. An 0-4 start put them in an early hole, though the team was able to rally at the end of the season to finish with an 8-8 record. As Pittsburgh decided to keep a majority of the roster together in the offseason, the Steelers will be hoping for a better result in the upcoming season. With the release of the 2014 NFL schedule, the Steelers now have a clear idea of their path to the playoffs. For Pittsburgh fans, they now have a clear idea of how much attending each game could cost. The average price of Pittsburgh Steelers tickets for their eight home games on the secondary market is $335.20.
Below is a game-by-game breakdown of the eight home games on the 2014 Steelers schedule along with the current prices on the secondary market, according to TiqIQ.
Week 1 vs. Cleveland Browns | Avg: $337.23 | Get-in: $103
For the past four seasons, the Steelers and Cleveland Browns have played in Week 17. That will change this season and the first meeting between these two division rivals will take place Week 1. The game comes barely over the season average at Heinz Field this season.
Week 4 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Avg: $228.09 | Get-in: $89
A few weeks later the Steelers will return home from a tough road trip, where they will be greeted by Lovie Smith's Bucs. The Bucs disappointed in 2013, but with a new head coach could be on the right track, though Pittsburgh fans don't seem convinced. This is currently the least expensive game on Pittsburgh's schedule.
Week 7 vs. Houston Texans | Avg: $261| Get-in: $86
The price of Steelers tickets could change for this game depending on what the Texans do in the draft. Pittsburgh fans might be a little more inclined to see a Johnny Manziel-quarterbacked team than they would be if Houston decides to trade back and enter the season relying on Ryan Fitzpatrick. This game comes 22% below the season average for a Monday Night game.
Week 8 vs. Indianapolis Colts | Avg: $248.09 | Get-in: $97
Even with Andrew Luck coming into town, this Week 8 matchup comes 26% below the season average. In what could be a potential playoff matchup, that's a significant discount for what could end up being one of the best games on either the Steelers or Colts schedule.
Week 9 vs. Baltimore Ravens | Avg: $301.23 | Get-in: $112
Pittsburgh's divisional showdowns are always worth the trip, but Baltimore really takes the cake, as nearly every meeting ends in a close contest. Surprisingly, the average price of this game is also below Pittsburgh's season average, but the get-in price is the highest of the season.
Week 13 vs. New Orleans Saints | Avg: $266.44 | Get-in: $97
New Orleans' offense has been one of the best in the league since Drew Brees came to town. Now with an improved defense, they could be one of the best all-around teams in the league. This game, though, still falls below the season average.
Week 16 vs. Kansas City Chiefs | Avg: $462.78 | Get-in: $73
It will be interesting to see if it's the 9-0 Kansas City Chiefs the Steelers get in this matchup, or the team that gave up over 40 points in a playoff loss to the Colts. Still, this is a well coached and balanced team, so Pittsburgh is likely in for a fairly tough game. This Week 16 battle should carry some playoff implications one way or another, as well, so the $462 average price makes some sense.
Week 17 vs. Cincinnati Bengals | Avg: $562.75 | Get-in: $73
The get-in tag stays at a season-low $73 two weeks in a row, as the Steelers and Bengals cap the 2014 season in this Week 17 season finale. It's Pittsburgh's final home game and final regular season game all in one, while it's also a heated battle with the hated Bengals. If all of that wasn't enough, the Bengals could pose a threat to the AFC North title and a playoff spot, which could make this a game with a lot on the line to end the season.
