Roethlisberger Questionable, Pouncey Out Tonight
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- As they continue preparations for their Monday night game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Steelers announced today that Ben Roethlisberger's status remains questionable while center Maurkice Pouncey is out.
According to the Steelers, Roethlisberger was limited during Saturday's practice.
Both Roethlisberger and Pouncey suffered high-ankle sprains in a 14-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 8.
Pouncey was unable to return to the game after hurting his ankle. The injury is the same one that kept him out of Super Bowl XLV last season.
Roethlisberger was able to return to the game and threw a 79-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Antonio Brown to ice the game.
Veteran Charlie Batch will get the start in San Francisco if Roethlisberger can't play.
Safety Troy Polamalu (right hamstring) and linebacker LaMarr Woodley (left hamstring) are probable. Meanwhile, the Steelers will also be without wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (sprained right foot).
Doug Legursky will start at center in place of Pouncey, while Trai Essex will take Legursky's spot at left guard.
Right tackle Marcus Gilbert (illness) and wide receiver Arnaz Battle (hamstring) are questionable.
