Steelers QB Gradkowski Excited About 'Awesome' Offseason
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp sessions are a wrap, and quarterback Bruce Gradkowski joins Troy Clardy on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan for an update on the team's progress.
With Ben Roethlisberger on the shelf due to minor knee surgery, Gradkowski took the majority of the snaps during the Steelers' minicamp.
"Any time you get a bunch of reps especially with the first team, it's important," says the first-year Steeler. "It's been an awesome offseason. I've been fortunate. Ben has been able to practice through OTAs, and to get a couple more extra reps for minicamp is always helpful."
"It's been going well. We just have to build on it going into training camp, stay prepared, stay ready, and get ready for a great season."
The former Seton-LaSalle High School quarterback is excited about what the Steelers' offense can accomplish.
"I'm even more excited about having that defense behind me, and now, I don't have to worry about playing them every year! Now, I can sit back and watch them just destroy people and have fun doing that."
Gradkowski also sizes up the other Pittsburgh quarterbacks, looks back on beating the Steelers when he was the Raiders starting quarterback in 2009, and he details how much work and preparation goes into being an NFL quarterback.
