Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette Previews Steelers-Bengals
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With the Steelers almost mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, questions are arising as to whether or not the Steelers will begin to play some of their younger more inexperienced players, but Steelers Insider and Post-Gazette Beat Writer Ed Bouchette says he doesn't see Head Coach Mike Tomlin taking that approach.
"Being around football as long as I have been and watching various coaches," Bouchette said, "Mike Tomlin seems to fall right in that line with Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher in that they don't want to experiment, they want to win. I know I've had some private discussions with Mike over the years about that and so I feel he's going to just go out and put the best people he thinks is going to help him win."
With questions surrounding the future for Defensive Coordinator Dick LeBeau and Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley, we get Bouchette's thoughts on if either will be back next year.
"I'm going against the grain here, I think they will," Bouchette told us. "Now, I can't get into Dick LeBeau's head. I don't know if he's going to retire and I've said this many times, at 76, retirement is close by one way or the other. I don't know what he's going to do, but I don't think they're going to fire him and I think Todd Haley is going to be back."
We wrapped things up with Bouchette asking him what lengths the Steelers will be willing to go to in order to keep Linebacker Jason Worilds around next year given what he has shown the team this year. To hear Bouchette's answer to that question, click the link below:
