Steelers: Good History Drafting Late
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have the 31st pick in the 2011 NFL Draft that will be held April 28-30 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
If history is any indication, the Steelers will draft another solid player in the first round.
The Steelers have a total of seven selections in the 76th annual draft, including their own selection in each of the Draft's seven rounds.
Don't think that because the Steelers have the next to last pick in the 1st round, that they won't get a solid player.
In the last 20 years, here are the players the Steelers have taken in the 1st round when drafting 25th or higher:
2009: Ziggy Hood (32nd pick in the 1st round)
2006: Santonio Holmes (25th pick in the 1st round)
2005: Heath Miller (30th pick in the 1st round)
2002: Kendall Simmons (30th pick in the 1st round)
1998: Alan Fancea (26th pick in the 1st round)
1996: Jamain Stephens (29th pick in the 1st round)
1995: Mark Bruener (27th pick in the 1st round)
