Steelers Discuss Super Bowl Preps, Stress With Fans
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Steelers and their fans are on the same page. The players say they are ready for the Green Bay Packers and they think the fans of the black and gold nation are the very best.
On Wednesday evening, that unending support was very clear as fans packed the East Lounge of Heinz Field for the taping of the PNC Steelers Huddle.
Excited fans were eager to see Steelers stars Ryan Clark, Antwaan Randle El and Ben Roethlisberger.
In front of one of the largest crowds hanging out for the Huddle, the three players sat down to talk Super Bowl.
One member of the audience asked about preparations.
"It's just complete focus, everything else that comes down with the Super Bowl - tickets and all that type of stuff - you have to get that stuff out of the way," said Randle El. "You have to focus, truly, this week and going into next week, and get prepared for the game."
"I just try and make it like any other game," said Roethlisberger.
But this just isn't another game; it's a big one against a very good Green Bay Packers squad.
"That's the way we want it. We want to almost forget that it's anything but a normal game," said Roethlisberger, "We know when we get down to Dallas that it kind of turns into a little pandemonium, craziness because of all the media and all the obligations. So, right now, it's just about getting all the preparation work in and getting ready to leave."
However, this game takes on such a different meaning. These are teams that have defined what the Super Bowl is – the Packers winning the first two games, the Steelers winning the most of any team.
Then, there's the fans - Cheeseheads against the Steelers Nation.
"My prediction is that this will be the most watched Super Bowl of all time because, obviously, the storied tradition that the franchises, the Packers and us, have," Big Ben added. "But, I'm biased, I think we have the best fans in all of sports."
One of the shows taped Wednesday night will air this Saturday. The second show will air the night before the Super Bowl.
