Steelers Could Lose Defensive Coordinator In-Waiting Keith Butler
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers linebacker coach Keith Butler has been known as the heir apparent to Dick LeBeau whenever the current Steelers defensive coordinator decides to step down, to the point the Steelers have blocked him in the past from interviewing for other jobs.
That is changing though as Tennessee Titans' beat writer for The Tennessean, Jim Wyatt, has tweeted out that new Titans head coach and former Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has been granted permission by the Steelers to interview Butler.
Butler is in his 11th season as the Steelers linebacker coach, coming to the Steelers after working the previous four with the Cleveland Browns.
UPDATE: According to Post-Gazette Steelers Writer Gerry Dulac, the move for Butler to interview in Tennessee was "scuttled for undisclosed reasons," leaving Browns Defensive Coordinator and former Steelers assistant Ray Horton as the front runner to land the job.
