Steelers' Colbert Tells Bouchette: Changes Are Coming
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- After meeting with Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert on Wednesday, 93-7 The Fan Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, told Starkey and Miller changes are coming.
Colbert told Bouchette they were disappointed by an 8-8 record and they won't sign any free agents until after they test the market.
"He said, 'We don't know what they're worth.' They'll have to go out, see what price they're worth, basically. I'm paraphrasing," said Bouchette. "And also, that they're not going to use the franchise or transition – you have one or the other – tag on anyone.
"And there's another nugget I got out of that and it's not going to be a headline tomorrow or anything because there were other things he said, but he said every position is open to any round to be drafted," Bouchette added. "And any time I've talked to him since they've drafted Ben Roethlisberger, he always would say, 'Well, of course, we won't draft a quarterback high.' Well, he didn't say that today."
