CORNPLANTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police say a spider is to blame for an accident Saturday afternoon in Venango County.

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. along Route 8 near the intersection of Rynd Hill Road in Cornplanter Township.

According to police, 26-year-old Alek Tarr of Oil City was headed south along Route 8 in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix when he was distracted by a spider crawling around in the vehicle.

State police say Tarr failed to navigate a left curve and the car went off the side of the road.

The car traveled along the side of the road for about 135 feet before getting back in the southbound lane where it started to spin out of control.

The car then hit a guide rail before coming to a stop.

Tarr and his passenger were not hurt in the crash.
