State Police Release Surveillance Video In Westmoreland Co. Hotel Robbery
LATROBE (KDKA) -- State police are asking for the public's help as they try to track down the suspect in an armed robbery last month at a Westmoreland County hotel owned by golf legend Arnold Palmer.
The incident happened on the Friday before Christmas, Dec. 21, when the hotel was very busy.
Surveillance video released on Wednesday shows the suspect walking into the Spring Hill Suites in Unity Township around 7:30 p.m.
He has a hooded sweatshirt pulled tight around his face. He shows the clerk the handle of a gun and demands cash.
"They only keep a very small amount of money for the commissary, so she provides him with that money," said Trooper Steve Limani, of the Pennsylvania State Police. "She actually goes to grab the change to give him, he says he doesn't want the change; and he flees."
Police would also like to identify two young men who were in the lobby of the hotel shortly before the robbery occurred.
They say the boys didn't do anything wrong, but think it's possible they may have seen or heard something that could help police crack this case.
The Spring Hill Suites is a Marriot Hotel owned by golf great Arnold Palmer. It opened this past summer across from Latrobe Airport.
If you recognize the man in the video or either of the young men who police think might have useful information about the robbery, you are asked to contact the State Police Barracks in Greensburg.
