State Police Make Arrest In 2 Armed Robberies In Westmoreland Co.
NEW STANTON (KDKA) -- State police say a New Stanton man is now facing several charges in connection with two separate robberies in Westmoreland County after being arrested by an off-duty state trooper.
Investigators say 20-year-old Nathan Grippo is being charged with robbery, assault and theft in connection with an armed robbery just after 9 p.m. Wednesday at the BP gas station on South Center Avenue in New Stanton.
According to state police, Grippo was wearing an orange ski mask and standing in front of the convenience store when the clerk walked outside to take some garbage to the dumpster.
The suspect followed the clerk back into the store, where investigators say he is accused of holding the clerk at gunpoint and demanding "all the money" from the register.
Authorities say Grippo was taken into custody by an off-duty state trooper who had pulled into the parking lot of the business across the street and saw the incident.
In addition, state police say charges are now pending against Grippo in a robbery at the Moose Lounge in Youngwood earlier this month.
