Home Invasion Suspect, 18, Fatally Shot In South Side Slopes

SOUTH SIDE SLOPES (KDKA) -- An 18-year-old man was killed during a suspected home invasion in the South Side Slopes on Friday morning.
The resident of a home in the 100 block of Monastery Avenue called police just before 9 a.m. to report he was being robbed.
Officers arrived at the scene just after 9 a.m. and found the body of a man who had been fatally shot. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Daniel Ling, of Baldwin.
The resident had a laceration on his head and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was then taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Police believe Ling, who was armed, tried to break into the Monastery Avenue home when he encountered the resident.
During a struggle between Ling and the resident, the resident managed to take the gun.
Police say the resident shot Ling on the rear patio of the home.
The investigation is ongoing.
