South Side Bar To Close
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Angels Night Club and Restaurant, located in the South Side, will be shut down after being placed on the District Attorney's nuisance list.
The owners of Angels Bar have agreed to shut down to avoid prosecution.
Stephen Zappala, District Attorney of Allegheny County, said police have been called to Angels Bar eight times since May of this year.
The seventh and eighth times police were called to the bar occurred after two nearby shootings in the past week.
"After reviewing the bar's history with both the police and Liquor Control Enforcement, the bar was directed to close," the District Attorney's Office said in a statement.
Last week, a shooting outside of Angels Night Club and Restaurant left two people injured. The shooting occurred around midnight in the 2600-block of Josephine Street.
According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, one person was shot in the chest and another was shot in the leg.
Zappala said surveillance cameras are being explored to help combat South Side crime.
The liquor license is to be transferred to the old Garden Theater on the North Side, which is planned to become a bar-restaurant.
