Sources: Woman Killed In Hill District Shooting Was To Testify In Drug Case
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A woman killed in a Hill District shooting was scheduled to testify in a federal drug case.
Tina Crawford, 34, was found dead in her garage and her mother Patti was wounded when more than 20 gunshots rang out on Cherokee Street in the Sugar Top neighborhood of the Upper Hill Friday afternoon.
Multiple sources confirm that Crawford was to testify in a drug case in which two people were arrested in a large heroin bust at a home in Mt. Washington.
The home is owned by former Steeler Deshea Townsend – however, Townsend is not believed to have any connection to the drug bust or be involved in any way.
Townsend only owns the home as an investment property and 33-year-old Price Montgomery and 35-year-old James Perrin were arrested there and charged for having large amounts of heroin and cash.
Police say they seized 1,500 bricks of heroin and more than $100,000 in cash, in addition to two luxury vehicles, jewelry, Cuban cigars and a live chicken.
It's unclear what Crawford's connection to the case was.
After Friday's shooting, police said they were looking for three people – two who were in a vehicle and one that left the scene on foot.
