Sources: 5th Grader Punches Teacher At North Side Elementary School

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Another teacher was attacked at the same Pittsburgh Public School on the North Side where an incident last week resulted in a different teacher being assaulted after leaving work.
Sources tell KDKA a fifth grade teacher at Pittsburgh King PreK-8 School was punched in the face Tuesday afternoon by one of her students. What prompted the assault is unclear.
The Pittsburgh Public School District will only say they're investigating an incident.
The teacher saw a doctor after she was struck, as mandated by the teachers union contract. School police handled the incident, unlike the first incident just six days ago, when Pittsburgh Police were called in.

Last week, a parent and her boyfriend are accused of attacking fourth grade teacher, 46-year-old Janice Watkins, who confiscated a cell phone from the woman's daughter. Officials say the girl bit Watkins, but the girl says the teacher tried to choke her.
Several hours later, Watkins was driving near the West End Bridge when Pittsburgh Police said 29-year-old Dai'Shonta Williams, the child's mother, confronted Watkins, hit her in the face with a brick, dragged her out of the car and roughed her up.
Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers President Nina Esposito-Visgitis, reacted to Tuesday's incident, saying, "Any incident like this is troubling."
The violence, she says "was something we want to address with the district sooner, rather than later."
Also, Esposito-Visgitis says she "has a list from teachers at Pittsburgh King, regarding the kind of support they would like to have."
In an interview following last week's teacher attack, Esposito-Visgitis said, "We do have some instances where we feel teachers don't have the support they need. I know teachers feel it also, and those are major concerns. That's what keeps me up at night. We have great schools, but we have schools that need support, and they should be getting it each and every day."
