Some PSU Players Vow To Stay With Program

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (KDKA) – The NCAA's sanctions against Penn State have raised many questions about whether the current members of the football team would remain in Happy Valley.

On Wednesday, some players gathered to symbolize a unified front.

They held a press conference to say they stand behind their school, despite the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal and the sanctions.

"We want to let the nation know we're proud of who we are. We're the true Penn Staters. We're going to stick together through this. We're going to see this thing through and we're going to do everything we can for the university. We know it's not going to be easy, but we know what we're made of. We know that through this grind there's going to be tough times ahead, but we know what our coaches are made of and we know what the university's made of," linebacker Mike Mauti said.

Meanwhile Penn State starting quarterback Matt McGloin has tweeted that he intends to stay with the Nittany Lions.

McGloin said, "I am a Nittany Lion and will remain one."

He also said he thought the NCAA penalties are extremely harsh, but believes Coach Bill O'Brien and the rest of the staff will help them get through.

McGloin, a former walk-on, was given the starting job last month.
