Social Media Invite Turns Into Home Invasion In Windgap

WINDGAP (KDKA)- Pittsburgh Police are searching for four people who broke into a home Thursday night.

According to police spokeswoman Sonya Toler, a 17 year old juvenile was home alone and invited over a woman he met on social media. He lived along Summerdale Street in the city's Windgap neighborhood.

The woman arrived with a second woman who stayed outside in a car. Later, that woman in the car forced her way into the teen's home, she was with two other men.

Police have not said what the four suspects stole from the home.

They are said to have fled the scene in a "beat-up" black vehicle.

Minnie Brown was at the Windgap community charter meeting Thursday night, discussing how to better the community. So when she saw the commotion a few doors down from her home, it was as surprise.

"When I came home, the police were out here," said Brown.

"I think it's sad that people are bringing that traffic here and we don't need that because it's a mature community -- elderly neighborhood," she added.

Other neighbors are also concerned.

"Social media is a good thing, used properly is a good thing," said neighbor Calvin Betts. "Anything used improperly is a bad thing."

So far no one has been arrested. It doesn't appear the teen was hurt in the home invasion.
