Snowstorm Halts Buses In Hill District, Causes Collapse In Pitcairn
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Port Authority buses stopped making runs Wednesday night on some Hill District streets because Wednesday's snowstorm made them too treacherous.
While buses were running on Centre Avenue, there were no buses to be found on Bedford or Webster Avenues by Wednesday evening.
A Port Authority spokesperson said they've had problems with some snow-covered streets in both the Hill District and on Mount Washington during the storm.
Meanwhile, it was the weight of the snow that caused problems in Pitcairn.
Part of a roof collapsed on an apartment building there.
Neighbors say only one apartment was occupied, and the men who lived there are now being helped out by the Red Cross.
A neighbor says one of the men was injured when debris fell on his head.
The buildup of the snow, it's been leaking – so I guess it just got… they couldn't get up there to clear it, so it fell on… the top roof of the dry wall fell down on his nephew's head," Luke Visconti, a neighbor, said.
