Snow Days Being Replaced By Cyber Days
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – "Snow Days" are becoming a thing of the past at some local schools.
Several local Catholic schools are now substituting "Cyber School Days" for "Snow Days."
Seton-LaSalle Catholic High School in Mt. Lebanon experimented with the concept for the first time Tuesday as record cold temperatures cancelled school.
Students and teachers weren't at school, but classes were still in session.
The school used their Google Chromebooks which were provided to each student.
Teachers issue assignments by 10 a.m., and students had to be online by noon to get credit for attendance.
Teachers were then on the web from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to answer any questions.
All assignments had to be completed by 5 p.m.
Principal Lauren Martin says most students like the option, because it's a day they won't have to make up should the school use all of its snow days.
