Slide Closes Part Of Rt. 65 In Glenfield Borough
GLENFIELD BOROUGH (KDKA) -- A rock slide is causing some major traffic problems along Route 65 in Glenfield Borough this afternoon.
According to officials with PennDOT, the northbound lanes of Route 65 - Ohio River Boulevard – remain closed about one-quarter mile north of the Interstate 79 interchange.
PennDOT says the slide happened in the northbound lanes and crews were called to the scene to clean-up the mess that it left behind.
Officials say they are bringing in a crane to remove the rock that is causing the concerns.
The northbound lanes are expected to remain closed through the duration of the project, which they hope to finish in time for Monday afternoon's rush hour.
The southbound side of Route 65 has been reopened to traffic. There could be intermittent closures, but only if necessary
PennDOT says drivers traveling in the area should expect delays. Traffic is being detoured using I-79 south to northbound Route 51 to the Sewickley Bridge.
