Report: Sidney Crosby Voted Top Player In NHL
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Watching him get off to an uncharacteristically slow start this year, many Penguins fans are doubting the play of Sidney Crosby, but when a group of national analysts got together to rank the top players in the National Hockey League, they had no reservations about Crosby's play.
An ESPN.com piece recently sought out to rate the top 100 players in the NHL, and at the very top of that list was the Penguins captain.
You can view the full rankings here.
Despite having played in all 9 Penguins games to start the year and tallying just one goal and two assists, Crosby beat out players such as John Tavares, Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos, who round out the top 5.
Four other Penguins also find themselves ranked in the top 100 with forwards Evgeni Malkin checking in at #11, Phil Kessel #29, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury at #32 and defenseman Kris Letang at #49.
