Shero: Tangradi "Wasn't In Our Plans Moving Forward"
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Penguins' General Manager Ray Shero said it was the right thing to do to trade 24-year-old forward Eric Tangradi to Winnipeg for a seventh-round pick on Wednesday.
"It's an opportunity for him to stay in the NHL, and I felt with Winnipeg it was a good opportunity for him," Shero said. "They will put him right on their team."
Tangradi had one point in 45 NHL games with the Pens.
"He's a younger player, needs to play," Shero added. "He wasn't in our plans moving forward."

Shero also said former first-round pick, forward Beau Bennett, was in Pittsburgh Wednesday night.
"He just played two or three games since coming back from injury. We just brought him up to get double-checked by the doctors," Shero added. "Don't want to rush him too much. A guy like Beau, his time will come at some point."
Shero said they will continue to mix-and-match for a second line winger with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal and they will continue to look for options before the trade deadline in April.
