2 Arrested After Police Chase Through Allegheny County
BRADDOCK, Pa. (KDKA) - Two people are in custody after sending police on a chase and manhunt through Allegheny County Thursday afternoon.
Police say it started in Sheraden and ended in Braddock. Officers say they spotted a stolen car and started to pursue the person driving it. The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office said they were called in for backup.
The Sheriff's Office said when deputies started following the car, it took off. Pittsburgh Police said at one point, the car sideswiped one of their cruisers at the intersection of Glen Mawr and Hunt streets.
Pittsburgh police said sheriff's deputies followed the car until the suspects got out of the vehicle and took off in Rankin. Police arrested one of the suspects near the car.
The second suspect got out and took off, sending police from multiple agencies on a manhunt all over the area. They even searched in nearby Hawkins Village.
During the foot chase, police said the suspect tried to get rid of a gun. That suspect was eventually arrested and taken into custody.
Pittsburgh Police said damage to the police cruiser that was struck was minimal, and the officer driving it was not hurt.
KDKA is still waiting to find out the names of the two people taken into custody at police headquarters.
