Shea-ved Ice: Sabres Vs. Penguins Preview
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins will look to shake off an overtime loss to the Washington Capitals when they host the Buffalo Sabres Saturday night.
On Thursday, James Neal's goal late in the third period forced overtime, but Dennis Wideman scored on the power play to give Washington the win.
Pittsburgh has enjoyed plenty of success against tonight's opponent, having won six straight against the Sabres.
According to the Penguins' website, Pittsburgh is 15-4-1 (8-1-1 at home) since the 2007-08 season against Buffalo.
Buffalo is coming into the game fresh off a 4-3 loss in their home opener to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.
Ryan Miller stopped 30 shots in the losing effort, but it remains to be seen if he will start tonight against the Penguins.
If he is held out of the game, Jhonas Enroth will get the nod.
However, it may not be a bad thing for Miller if Enroth gets the start. Miller holds a 4-9-3 record against the Pens with a 3.25 GAA and .886 save percentage.
Enroth has not yet made an appearance this season for the Sabres. His only start against the Penguins came on Nov. 24, 2010, where he lost 1-0.
Pascal Dupuis scored the lone goal and Enroth stopped 28 shots.
The Sabres are led by sniper Thomas Vanek who already has three goals and three assists in just three games this season.
Neal's two goals against the Caps gave him the league lead with four on the year.
The Penguins have continued to get scoring from everywhere in the lineup. Only five guys (Arron Asham, Deryk Engelland, Zbynek Michalek, Steve MacIntyre and Ben Lovejoy) have not recorded a point this season.
Kris Letang leads the way with six points (one goal, five assists), with Neal hot on his heels with five points.
Marc-Andre Fleury ,missed Thursday's game against Washington due to an illness. Should he be able to play tonight, he could add to his impressive career numbers against the Sabres.
Fleury holds a 10-3-2 record with a 2.57 GAA and .913 save percentage against Buffalo.
So far this season, Fleury is 3-0 with a 2.60 GAA and a .911 save percentage.
The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. and you can watch the game on Root Sports.
UPDATE: 12 p.m.: Evgeni Malkin will not be in the lineup tonight.
