Sharon HS Football Players Remembered At Candlelight Vigil
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It was a sad and somber ceremony Sunday night when loved ones came together to remember two Sharon High School football players killed in a head-on collision Friday night.
Friends, teammates and many other came out for the tearful candlelight vigil at the football stadium.
"Just realizing that they're gone," the wife of one of the victims, Kimberly Ann Zdelar, said. "They're never going to be back. It's gonna be tough."
Corey Swartz, 18, and Evan Gill, 17, were killed when their SUV went out of control and plowed into a pickup truck. The driver of the truck died too.
"Cory and Evan are in a greater place," one person said. "Fellas, they're here to watch over you."
Grief counselors are helping the students cope as they try to understand the sudden, unimaginable loss.
"Coming together as a family and showing that we're all here for each other in this time of need," another loved one said.
Monday night, the team takes the field for a playoff fame that was cancelled Saturday night because of the accident.
