SF Mayor Ready To Collect On Playoff Bet With New Orleans Mayor
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee is ready to collect on his wager with his New Orleans counterpart after the 49ers pulled off a thrilling 36-32 NFL playoff win over the Saints on Saturday.
In an e-mail to CBS San Francisco, Lee wrote: "What a game! Vernon Davis! Alex Smith! Niners defense! We couldn't be more proud of our Red and Gold. As the playoffs continue, we will be rooting for our hometown heroes. Congratulations to all of the players, Coach Harbaugh and the entire 49ers coaching team and staff. San Francisco stands with you as you embark on your quest to Superbowl XLVI. Go Niners!"
Davis caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Smith with nine seconds left in the game in a come-from-behind win for the Niners, who now head to the NFC championship game.
Lee and New Orleans Mayor Mitchell Landrieu had each put their city's signature food and drink on the line in their game bet.
With the 49ers victory, Landrieu will be sending Lee fresh Louisiana seafood, a Sucre king cake and Abita beer. Had the Saints won, Lee had put up Dungeness crab from Fisherman's Wharf, as well as Boudin sourdough bread and Anchor Steam beer.
