Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of Western Pennsylvania until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The watch is for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Somerset, Tioga, Venango, Warren, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

After a quiet start to the day, the chance of stormy weather increases as the afternoon and evening arrives.

According to KDKA-TV Meteorologist Dennis Bowman, an approaching cold front will set off scattered thunderstorms that will be strong to severe with gusty straight line winds and hail.

It looks like the active time for this will be after 4 p.m. and will continue through the evening hours.

Our high temperature along the way will be 86 degrees. Tonight, thunderstorms will continue into the post-midnight hours with a low of 65 degrees.

Bowman expects additional showers and thunderstorms on Thursday, but they most likely will not be severe. Tomorrow's high will be around 73 degrees.
