Severe Thunderstorm Watch And Warnings Issued
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – There's a severe thunderstorm watch for the Pittsburgh area tonight.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Beaver and Lawrence counties until 4:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango and Washington counties.
A thunderstorm warning is in effect for the northern half of Beaver County.
The watch is in effect from 3:40 p.m. today until midnight.
The NWS says winds of 70 miles per hour are possible, as well as large hail as big as 1.5 inches in diameter.
"This is a dangerous line of storms and has a history of producing widespread damage," The NWS says. "Move into a sturdy building and avoid windows."
KDKA-TV chief meteorologist Jeff Verszyla also says heavy downpours and frequent lightning are possible.
