Afternoon Storm Closes Roads, Knocks Out Power
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –Several areas of Pittsburgh are closed off or are flooded after Tuesday's afternoon storm hit.
In McKeesport, flooding was reported near Eden Park in the 2100-block of Gorden Street. There are also reports of wires down at Beaver and Freemont streets, as well as flooding at Eden and Renzie parks.
At one point, Washington Boulevard between the flood gates was also closed, but has since reopened. This is the first time the flood gates have been used.
Allegheny River Boulevard Between Verona and Washington roads is still closed, after a tree fell.
Traffic is being rerouted in both areas.
Duquesne Light also reported about 8,250 customers are without power, blaming wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour which knocked down trees and power lines.
Allegheny County officials say a woman walked into a McCandless-Franklin Park medical center claiming she had been struck by lightning. It's unclear what, if any, injuries she sustained.
A flood advisory is also in effect for Allegheny County until 6:30 p.m.
