Seton Hill University Cancels Rest Of Lacrosse Season In Aftermath Of Crash
GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- It was a painful decision today for the Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team.
They canceled the rest of their season in the wake of their coach's death.
Students are hoping to keep Kristina Quigley's memory alive by selling with bracelets and tee-shirts to support a scholarship fund in her name.
Students say they understand the team needs to heal.
"It's up to them, I mean I'm not disappointed at all," said Tyler Zimmer, a junior. "I'm glad their home safe and recovering mentally and emotionally."
Quigley and her unborn child died last month when the team's bus crashed on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The 61-year-old bus driver was also killed.
In a statement, the school said it's canceling the rest of the season because of great care and concern for the physical health and emotional well-being of the students.
Investigators have determined the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but the cause remains under investigation.
A memorial remains at the field where the lacrosse team played.
