Second Driver In Alleged Franklin Park Road Rage Incident Comes Forward
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police in Franklin Park Borough have interviewed the driver they were looking for after a road rage incident last Friday.
He voluntarily came into their police station and told his side of the story.
"He called in after the media got hold of the story. He was very concerned," Franklin Park Police Chief Donald Dorsch said. "He called us and volunteered to come in and give his side of the story, which is what we asked."
Dorsch explained, however, that after hearing from the two men, police are still unable to say what actually occurred.
Late last Friday afternoon, the two drivers got into a verbal confrontation on Brandt School Road, which escalated into a physical encounter. One driver, in his 70s, says he was pushed to the pavement and suffered a head injury which required hospitalization.
Police put out the word over the weekend they were looking for the second driver.
Dorsch says police want to talk to two witnesses who contacted them to say they saw what happened and were not directly involved.
"We got two different stories of the time, and we're trying to disseminate what really actually happened, and we haven't reached that point yet," Dorsch said. "We do have some witnesses that we have to pull in and we have scheduled interviews with them to shed some light on what really happened."
Police say the man injured in last Friday's road rage encounter is now out of the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
