Second Credit Card Theft Reported At Cranberry Cinemas
CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Another woman has come forward saying someone stole credit cards from her purse while she was watching a movie at a local theater, and then went on a shopping spree on her dime.
Cranberry Township Police tell KDKA that they are aware of at least two credit card thefts at the movie theater, and they are investigating to see if there are more victims.
The woman asked not to be identified, but believes her credit card was stolen at the Cranberry Cinemas.
She called KDKA after seeing our story earlier this week about a similar theft.
"I went to movie with my daughter, thought we were having good time," the woman said. "It clicked home that, 'Oh my gosh, this happened the same day, same person.' It had to have been the same person."
The woman says she went to see "Frozen" at 11 a.m. Sunday and went straight home after. The next day, her credit card was missing from her wallet.
"It was the only place I was that day," the woman said of going to the movies. "I had the card when I walked in theater."
Her husband looked at her credit card statement and found thousands of dollars in fraudulent purchases, including $1,300 at Best Buy and $600 at Walmart.
The thief also filled up his or her gas tank for about $60, and then grabbed something to eat at Burger King.
"You do feel violated," she said. "I've been really mad, trying to track it down myself."
Earlier this week, another victim told KDKA that four credit cards were stolen from her purse while inside the theater. Again, the thief left her wallet.
She later found about $6,000 in charges at Best Buy, Target and T.J. Maxx. All made while she was still enjoying a 12:30 showing of "American Hustle."
"I want people to be aware of what's going on because this is totally not acceptable," the first victim said. "I am very upset with these people doing this to other people."
One victim left her purse on the chair next to her. The other left her purse on the floor. Both say they will be more careful in the future.
"Hindsight is 20/20, it will stay in lap next time," the second victim said.
As the investigation continues, police are urging you to be cautious at the movie theater and other businesses in the area.
