Saturday Snowfall Sets New Record
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh's overnight snowfall set a one-day record for the city.
According to official measurements taken at the Pittsburgh International Airport, Pittsburgh received 4.4 inches of snow today.
That's more than twice the previous record of 2.1 inches on this date, which was set on Dec. 29, 1935.
So far this month, Pittsburgh has received 11.8 inches of snow and 12.6 inches for the entire winter season.
Most areas received at least nearly 4 inches of snow, but some got as much as 6 inches, including:
- Penn Hills – 5.5 inches
- Upper St. Clair – 3.8 inches
- Kittanning – 4 inches
- Monaca – 6 inches
- Farmington – 3.9 inches
- Clarion – 4.5 inches
- Canonsburg – 5 inches
- Donegal – 5.6 inches
- Latrobe – 5 inches
- Bridgeville – 3 inches
The snowfall is expected to taper off through the rest of the weekend and early week, with only some scattered snow showers.
About an extra inch of snow is expected overnight Saturday.
