Former Steeler Santonio Holmes: 'Sad That I Had To Leave The Steelers'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Back in town to promote the NFL's "On The Fifty" apparel launch at Nordstrom in Ross Park Mall, the former Steelers wide receiver took some time to talk with Joe Starkey of Starkey and Mueller about his time with the Steelers and what he's doing with himself now.
"Sad that I had to leave the Steelers, not under my own will, but the organization, they make decisions and in this game that we play, it's about business and that was a business decision that they decided to make, and we both have to live with it," Holmes said about the end of his time with the Steelers.
Since the Steelers traded him to the New York Jets back in 2010, Holmes landed with several different teams, but now finds himself out of the league.
At just 31 years old, Holmes says he's not ready to hang it up just yet.
"I can honestly say I'm probably in the best shape since 2012, Holmes said. "Right now, I am back at 100 percent and just waiting for that phone call."
Looking back on some of the positives in his career, Holmes talked about his Super Bowl winning catch and what happened to the ball from that play.
"I have one and [Ben] Roethlisberger has one. I'm not sure who has the real one, it's between one of us, we have the real one," Holmes joked.
