Same Robber Suspected In Rash Of Gas Station Hold Ups
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating a rash of local gas station robberies – and they think one person may behind them all.
Rostraver detectives say the Marathon on Route 51 was first hit on Oct. 21. Security cameras caught the suspect on video.
"On both occasions there was a white male, he's wearing a green-type uniform," said Rostraver Police Chief Greg Resetar.
The suspect is about 6 feet tall, had his face covered by a white bandana and had a dark hoodie covering his head – they believe he has brown hair. He acted like he had a gun in his pocket.
"He demanded the cashier to place all the money into the bag," Resetar said.
First incident there was actually a second individual that stayed outside the establishment – same type of uniform," he added.
Both took off only to return Nov. 2. An employee say them coming and alerted others in the store.
"She told them, 'I think I'm gonna be robbed, call 911,'" Resetar said.
"On the second incident, the individual tried to muffle his voice," he added. "On the first incident, he tried to change his voice."
Within days of the Marathon robbery, the Sunoco in Monessen was held up as well. So was the one in North Bell Vernon.
"Obviously this person, or persons, are desperate," Resetar said. "(Our) biggest concern is to get them off the street before someone gets hurt."
