Salvation Army Seeks Help To Replace Flood-Damaged Toys
MONESSEN (KDKA) – The Salvation Army is asking for the public's help after hundreds of dollars of toys were damaged by flooding.
According to Salvation Army Lt. Susan Thwaite, melting snow and heavy rains on Saturday clogged the drains in the Monessen Worship Center's basement, where the toys were being stored.
Thwaite also said the toys were to be distributed to children in the area Monday morning, but they now need the public's help to replace the damaged toys.
Toy distribution has since been pushed back to Monday afternoon in order to allow more time for donations and to purchase more gifts.
Contributions have been down this holiday season in general, but one member of the Monessen Chamber of Commerce dropped off a check for $500 Sunday morning.
