Salt Truck Driver Suffers Head Injury In Penn Hills Crash
PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Slick roads, snow and bitter cold. It's a rough night out there even for the salt trucks trying to keep the roads clear.
In Penn Hills, a driver was hurt when a salt truck slid down a steep hill.
Pershing Street is where the City of Pittsburgh meets Penn Hills.
It's also where a salt truck driver had a dangerous and destructive encounter on the slick, steep streets.
The truck careened over the hill after hitting an ice patch and it slammed into Karen Holt's brand new car.
"He lost control, came over our hillside, our yard, and our car was parked here - hit the car and pushed it down the street," said Holt.
"The car basically stopped his truck from flipping, and it just was a blessing because it could have went over there into the other people's house. It just was really scary," Keishia Lane, a witness, said. "I didn't know if he was going to be okay or not, but they said he just came out with a head injury."
