Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With Car, 2 Others Injured

DERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was injured in a crash in Westmoreland County on Monday.
It happened in Derry Township just after noon.
According to the Westmoreland County coroner's office, the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north along Route 981 near Shannon Lane when it crossed the center line and struck a motorcycle that was traveling south.
Both the motorcyclist and his female passenger were thrown from the bike.
The motorcyclist -- identified as 59-year-old Bruce Miklavic Sr., of Gibsonia -- suffered multiple blunt force injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His female passenger suffered leg injuries. Her condition is unknown.
Both were wearing helmets.
The driver of the Jetta was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury.
