Two Killed In Route 65 Crash
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two men died in a car crash on Route 65 early Saturday morning.
Two men were pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle accident, which happened near Millerton Street around 5:30 a.m.
According to police, a man in a Volkswagen sedan was driving outbound on Route 65 when he crossed the center line and struck a Cadillac sedan travelling inbound. The Cadillac then caught on fire. Police say two good Samaritans put the fire out with a fire extinguisher and managed to pull the male driver and a female passenger from the car.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger of the Cadillac was sent to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition, but she has since been upgraded to stable condition.
Victims have been identified as 22-year-old Robert Daniel, Jr., from the North Side and 42-year-old Derek Hill from Brentwood. It is unclear which vehicle Daniel was driving.
A section of Route 65 was closed in both directions for several hours following the accident. It reopened around 11 a.m.
