Roethlisberger Restructures Contract

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger restructured his contract with the organization Thursday, clearing approximately $8 million in salary cap room.

Roethlisberger won't lose any money for reworking his contract, but the move will bring the Steelers very close to the NFL's salary cap of $120 million. Pittsburgh was projected to be approximately $8 million over the cap before this move.

Roethlisberger's contract was worth $11.6 million against the salary cap before restructuring. This is the second straight season Roethlisberger has reworked his deal to help ease salary cap issues for the Steelers.

This move could play a big part in the Steelers potentially re-signing wide receiver Mike Wallace. He is a restricted free agent.
